A few weeks ago I took some pictures of this family, for about the third or fourth time, memory escapes me. I love them all so much, it’s been such a blessing to see the kids grow up, lose their teeth, get braces and all that fun stuff!
I also had Alejandra tag along as she’s filming my promo video (she’s in a few pics below) and I am beyond excited to see the finished product sometime next year. We still have a lot to film, but this was our first time working together and I was extra pumped that it got to be with this family. If anyone needs a promo video or something, definitely look up Alejandra, she’s disgusting awesome.
Sometimes you hear people talk about how useless social media is, how Twitter is just for updating what you ate for lunch and who cares about that (btw I had an amazing slice of blueberry pie last night)…but I disagree wholeheartedly.
A couple of years ago as I started getting into photography, I used Twitter to connect with other artists to see what they did and support their work. And of course to share my own. Along the way I met some awesome guys and became friends with them…even though we all were scattered across the country. Or in Heath O’Fee’s case…Canada. Just over a year ago, a bunch of us “Twitter friends” descended upon New York City…where we met each other in person for the first time and spent three days hanging out. I have to say…it was an amazing time.
A few months later Heath flew down from Canada to vacation in Palm Springs with his family, and I met him along with a few other photographers, in Joshua Tree National Park. A two-day stint shooting that park and then wandering over to the Salton Sea. Of course it was a blast. Good dudes, friendships formed or some made stronger. Sleeping in tents during sub-32 degree (Fahrenheit) weather will do that.
And a few weeks ago, Heath was once again down in Palm Springs with his wife Brei and little baby girl Rory…and they ended up driving over to Phoenix. Heath not only helped me shoot a wedding while he was here, but he asked me to take some family photos for them.
All of this because I followed Heath on Twitter one day.
Needless to say, I’m so excited to post these photos. I’d been dying to meet Rory and never thought I’d get a chance until suddenly he told me they were coming to Phoenix. Now Heath of course is an amazing photographer himself, so he already has beautiful images of his little girl (she’s one lucky lady)…but I know how hard it is for us picture-takers to get in front of the camera, so this was fun to do for them!
Thanks buddy again for helping me shoot that wedding and letting me take some snaps of you guys. Love your little crew there, love that little girl who stared at me the whole time…and I only hope we can run into each other again real soon.
Look at that tooth!
Kirsten and I went to high school together, which was many, many years ago. When we had our ten year reunion she was pregnant with Elle and while I barely remember it, I must have met hubby Milo at the time. And now it’s near 10 years after THAT and they’ve added Pacey to the mix in the meantime. I’ve had the pleasure of being able to photograph some old friends from high school this fall and it’s been so much fun seeing how things have changed. We were all so silly and naive in high school…it’s amazing to get to see what happens 20 years later.
And I gotta say…what a fun photoshoot. Milo brought a Bose bluetooth speaker box and created a playlist just for our shoot. So not only did we take pictures, but we also had a soundtrack to go with it. LOVED. IT.
Great kids, great parents…and also their nanny/babysitter Delainey came along and immediately ended up in photos. Loved this crew…thanks guys for a rockin’ time!
My photographer buddy Heath and his family live in Canada. They took a break from the cold, Calgary weather and ended up on vacation with family in Palm Springs and then making a little detour to Phoenix for a few days. Not only was it amazing to get to see my friend, but on top of that he second shot a wedding for me on Saturday and then I got to take their family photos on Sunday. Ridiculous fun.
I met Heath and his wife in person out in New York City last year, but this was the first time seeing Rory in anything other than Heath’s photos. She’s just a bundle of adorable cuteness. Like most babies, she had no clue what to make of me and just stared at me the whole time. Can’t blame her. Also kudos to her for getting most of Brei’s good looks and less of daddy’s (har har har).
Here’s a frame from yesterday…love, love, love you guys! It was so amazing seeing you all and thank you to Heath for spending almost 11 hours helping me shoot a wedding…I had a blast!
