Storm-Chasing, Forecasting & Guiding

Hire Experience

After about five years of chasing, I started doing workshops and tours. People would fly in from all over the world to chase storms with me. Those tours quickly led to me working with commercial productions, like documentaries, TV shows, software companies and more.

I’ve worked with companies such as National Geographic, PBS, the BBC, IBM, Netflix and more. Filming storms requires a vast amount of experience and knowledge, and when they are needed for a production, there is little time to learn how to do that on your own. That’s where I come in.

Guiding

One of the easiest ways to get the footage you need is to hire me to be your guide. I’ve helped drone operators get into position to capture ground-breaking footage of supercells. I’ve worked with PBS to lead a team to capture severe storms in Texas to help convey the necessity of water for farmers. A group of filmmakers had me lead them around the plains to capture footage for IBM. I’ve even taken a Japanese comedy show around Arizona to capture haboobs!

Forecasting

I am first and foremost a photographer, so I like to make sure clients understand I’m not a meteorologist. That doesn’t mean I don’t know how to forecast. I’ve spent the last decade learning how to use the tools to get me to the storms I want to chase. Knowing how and where to chase isn’t solely based on numerical models but also gut instinct and experience. Understanding where haboobs are likely to form and the patterns that lead to them developing is something that comes with years and years of chasing. Knowledge of terrain and locations also help with knowing what kind of footage can be captured.

I’ve been doing this for years now. Every spring/summer I’m forecasting for someone. Either for haboobs, or lightning or supercells. It’s what I love to do.

Let Me Know How I Can Help Your Project!

I’ve been honored and blessed to have worked with so many amazing companies and people over the years. Recently I was not only hired to forecast and be a guide, but to also appear on camera as one of the main characters in a documentary series focused on different aspects of weather. That experience was incredibly rewarding and a highlight of my career.
