Katie and Dave were the perfect couple to handle a day like September 27th. Not only did it rain, but it rained hard. And stuff got knocked over. As Katie said during the reception…”Thank you all for coming out despite the HURRICANE we had awhile ago.” Roads were flooded, trees were everywhere, signs down, the venue lost power for hours and we couldn’t even think of doing photos anywhere until it stopped raining.
But the rain did finally break. The sun actually was out for a few minutes. And we raced against time to get all the family and wedding party photos done, even saving a little bit of time for Katie and Dave themselves before the ceremony. And just before the ceremony, power was restored and it ended up being perfect.
I’ve never seen a more calm bride and groom on a day like that. It’s a testament to how little they cared for all the hoopla and more about just being surrounded by their friends, family and each other. They wanted to get married and that’s ALL that mattered. I’m sure it all came from their families…everyone was utterly amazing, warm and made us feel right at home. I loved spending a bit of time at the start with just Katie, her parents and her brother (who shaved about three inches of his beard just for the big day!) because it made me realize how badly I want to have that same time someday with my daughter before her wedding.
Thank you so much to Cicely and Drew from Life Design Event Planning for being amazing to us! And running into Mandi, Nate and company from Butterfly Petals is always a treat! I even got to work with the wonderful Denise Saucedo, who was such a pleasure to work with and I appreciate her efforts on a crazy day!
Here’s some of my favorites from the day. Thank you Katie and Dave for everything.
