I’ve been wanting to do a promo reel for my business ever since I first saw one done for another photographer. But that was over three years ago and I knew I wasn’t ready. I honestly had no idea who I was at the time. It was late in 2011 when I felt like I finally began to find my true voice as a photographer. That story is something I will tell at another time. Today I want to talk about this video and how it’s the culmination of everything I’ve done with photography and my life up until this very…
I’ve known the mom of this family for awhile now…she’s an amazing photographer herself and I met her first back on a couple of downtown Phoenix photowalks I ran a few years ago. Since then we’ve stayed friends on Facebook and supported each others’ work! It’s been so much fun to get to know her better and even banter back and forth a few times about horses or riding or something, I can’t remember haha! Maybe I don’t want to remember because I believe I got owned pretty good. I was SO excited when she asked me to take some…
A photoshoot from December that I never got a chance to post. This is an amazing family, one that helped make our adoption of Eli possible. We can’t begin to show our appreciation to all those people enough but keep trying to anyways. Thank you guys from the bottom of our hearts for helping our family grow. Eli is almost a year old now and we cannot imagine life without that little bundle of cheeks. I loved hanging out with you all for a bit! You have two adorable boys, had such a fun time!
Love this family…lost track of the number of photoshoots we’ve done together, I think this makes the 3rd or 4th! Amazing to watch these kids grow up so quickly.
There is something crazy fun about looking back at the pictures you take every year. Trying to narrow down what you want to show when the fact is, you love what you do sooo much, you want to post everything. I love the way I get reminded of the story of the year. So much is forgotten over the course of 365 days. The little trips, the families you met, the couples, the moments, the friends…it all makes me who I am as a photographer and I cherish being able to return one last time to remember how the year…
A few weeks ago I took some pictures of this family, for about the third or fourth time, memory escapes me. I love them all so much, it’s been such a blessing to see the kids grow up, lose their teeth, get braces and all that fun stuff! I also had Alejandra tag along as she’s filming my promo video (she’s in a few pics below) and I am beyond excited to see the finished product sometime next year. We still have a lot to film, but this was our first time working together and I was extra pumped that…
Another awesome family from a few weeks ago…we walked around downtown Tempe for a bit and made the little dude laugh as much as possible.
Sometimes you hear people talk about how useless social media is, how Twitter is just for updating what you ate for lunch and who cares about that (btw I had an amazing slice of blueberry pie last night)…but I disagree wholeheartedly. A couple of years ago as I started getting into photography, I used Twitter to connect with other artists to see what they did and support their work. And of course to share my own. Along the way I met some awesome guys and became friends with them…even though we all were scattered across the country. Or in Heath…
The first family I ever photographed were the Kleins. I think they actually even paid me too, although I’d be too embarrassed to go back and look at those! It’s amazing how far you come and how much you learn in four years. Just over a week ago we met up in downtown Phoenix for their annual pictures. As is the same every year, I brought along my family because we all love to hang together. Plus their little girl Tatum and my daughter Lyla are best friends, love seeing each other and I dig being able to get pictures…
