Our last photowalk in downtown Phoenix on February 5th ended up with a total of 18 people showing up for the event. I was kind of blown away by it and pumped at the same time. I got to meet a lot of new people and it was a blast to just walk around shooting whatever was interesting to each of us.
I don’t want to pigeonhole myself into only leading downtown Phoenix photowalks, but we’re going to do one more before we move on to somewhere else.
There is a ton to see at night in Phoenix. The trains come by and offer some interesting photo opportunities. Heritage Square is really beautiful at night. There are stadiums, arenas and a bazillion other cool places. Since we haven’t explored downtown too much at night, we’re going to do that for our next event.
The Urban Phoenix Photowalk: Night edition
When: Saturday, March 26th, 2011
Time: 6pm-10pm or whenever
Where: We’ll meet at Coach and Willies (MAP). There is supposedly a Lady Gaga concert that night, so the bar/grill will be open until really late, which will make for a nice place to finish up at and have a few drinks and some grub before we head home.
Cost: I’m not sure…despite the concert, I expect the bar to have parking for us, but just in case, you may need some cash for the public parking areas down there.
What to Bring: Well, this is nighttime photography, so a tripod will probably be very important. Of course, you can also just amp up the ISO, open your aperture and have a lot of fun with simple nighttime shots. I love using my 50mm 1.4 wide open and do some grainy B&W single shots.
