Elaina + Caleb | Wedding
One of my favorite things about photographing weddings comes way before the actual day. The first time I meet a couple, I get to find out their stories. How they met. Where they went on their first date. How he proposed. The stuff that brought them to this point. Of course you only get a small slice of that story, but it’s amazing how different they always are. Elaina and Caleb met playing a computer game. Ultima Online. I remember hearing about that game, but never playing it. They got to know each other better, phone calls happened, but they [...]
One from Elaina and Caleb’s wedding
Elaina and Caleb got married yesterday. Then they stood in this tunnel for me. More to come!
Rob and Anna | Wedding
Back in October I helped my good friend and photog extraordinaire Trevor Dayley shoot Rob and Anna’s wedding. I was so blessed to be a part of this event, not only because it was fantastic to hang out with Trevor for a few hours, but also the wedding itself was absolutely beautiful. I always want to tell a story with my wedding posts, but since I was only helping Trevor for this one, I didn’t get to find out too much about Rob and Anna. I do know they constantly get asked how old they are since they both look [...]
One shot – Rob and Anna | Wedding
Not that long ago I helped my amazing friend Trevor Dayley shoot Rob and Anna’s wedding. This marked the first time I’d ever second-shot for someone and it was a blast. It’s a great way to hone your skills, practice techniques, learn from a fellow photographer and to just be out there shooting as much as you can. I have my own weddings coming up next year, but also am planning on a few more second-shooting outings as well, so I’m pumped! This wedding was spectacular and Anna looked absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to post the entire wedding because [...]
Buzz + Chong
In a very nice hotel room suite at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, a quiet little ceremony took place that was kind of a big deal. At least, I thought it was. I don’t know the whole story of these two, but at some point long in the past, Buzz and Chong went separate ways, only to be rejoined after all these years. Their families were there, their friends and of course, this photographer. One thing I like to think about when I shoot events such as a wedding or this ceremony, are the stories behind them. As photographers, we [...]
Jennifer + Haseeb
Haseeb and Jennifer have had a number of weddings this year and I was lucky enough to shoot the final one! If that didn’t make sense, read on. Haseeb is from Pakistan. Jennifer went to the same high school I did, but we don’t believe we ever met. However, her maid of honor, Audra, was a great friend of mine back in those days so it was just AWESOME to get to see her again after all these many years. Jennifer and Haseeb were married in a small religion ceremony here in the States earlier this year, and then traveled [...]
Steampunk wedding cake topper
I just had to post these little teaser images from a wedding I shot this past weekend. The theme was “steampunk” and if I were to ever re-do my own wedding, I’d want this little iron man and woman atop the cake. Of course, Jina would likely have an issue with that, so I’m sure I’d lose the battle, but still, I’d push for it huge. Regardless…best.wedding.topper.ever.
Candice and David
Showing up to shoot a wedding is interesting. You are worried about making sure you have all your equipment. All your gear. Batteries. Cards. Lenses. Flashes. Everything. Then you worry about getting the shots and what’s next on the agenda. But in the middle of it…you realize that this day has nothing to do with you. It’s all about them. All this kind of hit me on Sunday during Candice and David’s wedding. Three pictures below is a photo of Candice from behind right after they finished doing her hair. She was about to get up, but I had spotted [...]
Outtakes
I had to share this little outtake from the wedding shoot last weekend. The entire time we were at the zoo, people were waving, smiling and shouting out congratulations to Debra and Chris. It was a lot of fun to watch people get a grin on their face at seeing a wedding couple kind of out of place in this park for animals. So we rode this gondola through the zoo in order to try and get a unique picture of the two newlyweds. While on the ride, there were the usual people waving and congratulating them as they moved [...]
Debra and Chris
Debra and Chris have known each other for a very, very long time. If I’m not mistaken, they grew up in the same church as kids and formed a long-time friendship. Fast-forward to their wedding last Saturday and that friendship has definitely taken a new step forward. They are two great people and I’m so blessed to have been able to shoot pictures of their big day. We met for the first time a few months ago when we wandered the Wildlife World Zoo looking for shooting locations, but I’ve been conversing with Debra since last August when she asked [...]
