The Demma family
We’ve know the Demma family for a long time now…but I hadn’t met any of the kids besides the older boy Korver. So it was awesome to get introduced to Glazier and Gianna. The entire family is a good-looking group, but you had to love these kids. The photo above was pretty much all them…in fact, they just kept sitting places, hugging each other, smiling for the camera and making my job a lot easier! And you have to dig the smiling from Korver and Glazier…considering they both possess sizable gaps in their teeth despite being years apart! I believe [...]
Our photos by Session Nine
I heard once that the best thing a photographer can do is to get in front of the camera themselves and see what it’s like. Let’s face it, a lot of us enjoying hanging in the background, taking pictures of people, buildings, mountains…whatever you like, but we never really try hard to let someone take a photo of US. And for those of us who are portrait and wedding photographers…we really should understand what it’s like to be our clients in front of our lenses. Towards the end of this past summer I decided I wanted to get some photos [...]
Chrystal + Patrick | Engagement
Chrystal and Patrick work with my mom…so I am pretty certain I never would have met these guys if it wasn’t for her. And that would have been a shame, because this couple is quickly turning into one of my all-time favorite clients! I mean, look at that photo above, how cute are they? Of course, none of my love for them has to do with the fact that I get to shoot their wedding in Park City, Utah next August. I promise. Okay, maybe a little *smiley face* (are you kidding me? Park City??? Soooo excited!) Seriously though, these two [...]
The Williams family
A few months ago I decided to get in front of the camera for once. I needed some shots of me that I could use for my photography business, but we also needed to update our family photos. As I thought about who I would ask… I wanted someone that we would definitely feel comfortable with but also someone I really admired. Immediately Session Nine Photography came to mind. I just love, love, LOVE their work. I had met them at a First Friday event last year @ New City Gallery and they are amazing, fantastic people. So we booked a shoot with them and [...]
One shot – Chrystal and Patrick
Chrystal and Patrick are getting married in August and I cannot wait to shoot their Park City, Utah wedding! We walked around on Friday night to get some engagement photos and were treated to a gorgeous Arizona sunset. More to come!
One shot – Jason and Cruz
Jason with his little man Cruz. Love these guys. More to come from the entire Williams family. Mike
The Brooklyn Bridge
(click to view on black // canon 5d mark ii, canon 16-35mm 2.8, 17mm, f/8, iso 100, 292 sec) A couple of days ago I posted an Instagram photo of a new canvas we bought for the house of one of my shots from New York. You can see a picture of it below. I haven’t posted a shot from that trip in awhile, especially the bridge shots. In the days immediately following my visit there, all my photog buddies that I had met up with were unleashing a torrent of bridge images and we all got sick of them [...]
The Johnson family
When you are lucky enough to photograph the same families every year, it’s kind of fun to see how things change. Like with the Johnson family here. Last year baby Aly was a bundle of joy and sat there for an eternity letting me take pictures. And little Nick wanted nothing to do with me. This year, the opposite. Nick was a superstar model. He pretty much wanted to be in every picture. Aly? Well, she had her own agenda. I do love this family though. As I mentioned in the Nakamura post this week, Dave and Meribeth used to [...]
April, Mark, Greer and Merton
This shoot was a special one, for a couple of reasons, but mostly for how it ended. Sometimes things don’t always work out how you imagined. The goal was to get a photo of little man Greer with the elderly statesmen of the house, Merton…a fantastic dog of 13 years. And other photos of course. Hopefully a nice Christmas card would be made with a boy and his dog. I had ideas of the perfect pose, exactly what I wanted. So did mom and dad. But for whatever reason, poor Greer wasn’t feeling too great right before the shoot. Mom [...]
The Nakamura famiily
It took me about 30 minutes to finally ask Shelley and Brian if Noah and Hannah were the same age. I’m kind of slow, but it dawned on me that these two absolutely adorable kids might be twins. And yes, they were! The first time I’ve ever taken pictures of twins and I’m glad these two were the ones. They did a great job and were super fun to work with! I met the Nakamura’s up in Scottsdale last week for a quick shoot to get some family photos. Was awesome meeting these guys, who are friends with another family [...]
